HAVE YOU HEARD OF MICRONEEDLING WITH RF?

Updated: Mar 7

If you have or haven’t, let’s start our discussion with . . .

“What is Microneedling?”

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses small, sterile needles to prick the skin making tiny holes in the top layer. This treatment aims to generate new collagen and skin tissue to smooth, firm, and tone skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may reduce the appearance of acne, scars, dark spots, wrinkles, and large pores. The irritation to your skin helps stimulate your skin’s healing process, so it produces more collagen and elastin. These proteins keep your skin firm and smooth.

"What is Microneedling with RF?"

Radiofrequency microneedling is a cosmetic procedure using tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate facial skin. While Microneedling uses a fine needle to create micro wounds, or channels, in the skin, Microneedling with RF uses energy to refine and improve this process. It enhances the effects of traditional microneedling.

"How is Microneedling done?"

First, your practitioner will cleanse your skin to ensure it is free from any dirt, oil, or makeup. Then they will apply a topical numbing cream to the surface which will sit for an average of 30 minutes. This cream will help decrease the sensation of the needles to make the treatment as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

"Are there any side effects?"

Microneedling is typically very well tolerated. Some short-term side effects can be redness, swelling, or peeling. There can be some darkening of skin on darker skin tones and pinpoint marks of dried blood on the surface.

"Do we do Microneedling with RF here at Spruce Medispa?"

Not exactly . . . While we do offer traditional microneedling with all of its benefits, our advanced skin rejuvenation procedure is done with our Venus Viva skin rejuvenating device. We LOVE this treatment! Not just because it smooths fine lines and wrinkles, diminishes acne scarring and surgical scars, boosts radiance, and improves skin texture, but because it does all of this with minimal down time and typically no topical anesthetic.

  • Skin Resurfacing with Microneedling or Venus Viva are fairly simple treatments that offer major skin benefits, from a glowing complexion to improving skin texture.

  • They are known as collagen induction therapy. As such, they work best given time – skin continues to improve for 60-90 days and work best with multiple treatments.

  • After the procedure, you can go home and resume normal activities. We do recommend doing your treatments well in advance of any big event so any side effects have subsided and you look and feel your best.

  • You can add even more of a boost to your microneedling treatment by adding PRF- platelet rich fibrin. This – like the Venus Viva radiofrequency device will enhance and improve your results.

Our experienced providers will discuss this treatment and any contraindications in person before your procedure.
